Adult Learning Service (ALS) - Routes to Wellbeing (formerly Learning Matters)

Courses to boost mental, emotional, social and physical wellbeing for adults aged 19+.

The course is suitable for people experiencing mental health issues or would like to learn more about how to use education and activity as a way to self-manage common mental health issues.

Do you sometimes feel stressed out, anxious, low or isolated?

We can offer a variety of courses to support you in addressing these areas of your life including Me, Myself and My Mental Health, 5 Ways to Wellbeing, Relaxation through Yoga and An Introduction to Mindfulness.  

These courses can help you to learn more about yourself, gain confidence and develop skills in a welcoming, supportive and safe environment. All our tutors are experienced in supporting individuals and courses will include a variety of teaching and learning activities.

Courses are run by the Liverpool Adult Learning Service (ALS), and will be held at various venues across the city.

Courses for the new academic year will be open to enrolment from September 2017.

What is it?

Routes to Wellbeing is a new way to help people and support people to self-manage their mental health and well-being.

Short courses are designed to help you cope with issues of anxiety, stress low mood and other mild to moderate mental health problems through learning and skill development.

These courses are a follow on from the Liverpool Learning Matters 2016/2017 research project to find out if community learning can help people with problems like anxiety, sleeplessness and feeling low.

Who is it for?

Courses are designed specifically for people who are experiencing common mental health problems or those wishing to support someone who does. You are not alone. 

Why do courses?

Learning is identified as a key determinant of health and wellbeing and can support you to develop coping strategies and understand more about what works for you.
