Service offering information, advice and support to people with a learning disability and their family members.
Most of the people we support have a mild to moderate learning disability and often have an autistic spectrum disorder including people with Asperger’s syndrome.
How We Help
Outreach
Our Outreach Co-ordinator will come and visit you when you get in touch with us to find out how we can work with you in the best way.
We can work with you for 6 – 12 weeks around different issues that might affect your life. For example you may not feel comfortable or confident getting out and about in your local community.
Or perhaps you feel a bit isolated and would like to find new things to do. You may even be a parent or carer of someone with a learning disability and feel you need some support yourself.
Befriending
We can put our members in touch with potential friends with shared interests. Befriending is all about meeting someone new. We can match you with a volunteer befriender – someone you can meet up with and do different with things with.
Your befriender will like doing the same things as you. Mencap Liverpool will support you and your befriender to make friends.
Socials
We connect people who have spent a lifetime in social isolation giving them a network of support and new friendships.
