Support for Internet Explorer

It looks like you’re using Microsoft Internet Explorer as your web browser. This is now considered ‘end-of-life’, and Microsoft is withdrawing support for it because it uses outdated technology. This means that it will no longer receive important security updates and previous bugs will not be fixed.

This means that the risk and cost are placed on service providers to develop twice for modern browsers and again for Internet Explorer. As free, modern alternatives are available for most platforms it is difficult to justify spending public money on further development.

Liverpool Lighthouse: Community Connect (skills development, health & wellbeing)

Centre offering a range of skill development opportunities, including accredited courses to support steps towards employment, as well as food pantry and practical support on a range of issues

As an Arts and Community centre, we use engagement with the arts to improve people’s wellbeing, so they can go on to develop the skills they need to meet their aspirations.

Our projects provide the local community and vulnerable groups with opportunities to develop skills, create and experience arts and culture and to connect with others, integrated with practical support for people in crisis or who need a helping hand, our evaluations of participants reported improved mental health, reducing social isolation and better community integration and inclusion.

Community Connect Timetable

You can drop in at any time from 10am-3.30pm Tuesday-Thursday to have a chat with our Wellbeing Workers to get advice or support for any issues, from debt, to housing, to benefits.

Craft & Stitch 10:00-12:00
A session using crafts and fabrics to make new creations

Smartphone Photography 12:30-14:00 Every fortnight
Look at the world differently though your smartphone camera lens, learn tips and techniques to enhance your phone’s photos.

Wednesday

ESOL Group 3 – 10:00-12:00
English lessons for speakers of other languages.

Creative Writing 10:00-12:00
A fun writing workshop for you to be creative, using different styles of creative writing, designed to fit in with your interests and life experiences. Sign up required, limited spaces. Flyer at the bottom of this page.

Food Pantry 12:30-14:00
Subsidised community food pantry. £3.50 for 10 items or £5 for 15 items

Create Art 12:30-14:00
A session to introduce you to different types of arts/crafts from across the world.

Sew & Co 10:00-12:00
A practical and creative session to learn basic sewing techniques and recycle and up-cycle clothes and fabrics into new creations.

Enjoy Nature 11:00-13:00
Learn about planting, maintaining plants/veg/herbs and getting out into nature. Eco friendly tips and learn new creative art/crafts with nature. Sign up for 10 weeks. Limited spaces. Flyer at the bottom of this page.

Cooking for wellbeing 13:30-14:30
A social relaxed session to cook a new recipe together each week.

When is this service open?
In addition to the activities, you can drop in at any time from 10am-3.30pm Tuesday-Thursday to have a chat with our Wellbeing Workers to get advice or support for any issues, from debt, to housing, to benefits.
How much will it cost me?
As of 4 June 2024, all our activities are free, one registration entitles someone to access all that Liverpool Lighthouse has to offer in our Community Programme , including Free Hot lunch and subsidised pantry, and refreshments throughout the day.
