Support for Internet Explorer

It looks like you’re using Microsoft Internet Explorer as your web browser. This is now considered ‘end-of-life’, and Microsoft is withdrawing support for it because it uses outdated technology. This means that it will no longer receive important security updates and previous bugs will not be fixed.

This means that the risk and cost are placed on service providers to develop twice for modern browsers and again for Internet Explorer. As free, modern alternatives are available for most platforms it is difficult to justify spending public money on further development.

Omega (befriending service)

A registered charity dedicated to reducing social isolation and loneliness through a free telephone befriending service and a free penpal befriending service.

Omega is run from a small head office in Shrewsbury, Shropshire, but our services are open to clients throughout the UK.

Chatterbox

Chatterbox is a free telephone befriending service for socially isolated and lonely people. Our clients are carefully matched to DBS-checked volunteer befrienders, with whom they exchange supportive, friendly phone calls. They chat about their lives, families and interests.

Letterbox

Letterbox (formerly A Letter from Louise) is a free penpal befriending service for socially isolated and lonely people. Our clients are carefully matched to volunteer befrienders, with whom they exchange supportive, friendly letters. They share stories about their lives, families and interests.

Pastcards

Pastcards (formerly Postcards from the Past) is a free befriending service in which elderly clients living in care homes receive postcards from our volunteer befrienders. The cards, often historical and nostalgic, help recipients to relive happy memories.
