Support for Internet Explorer

It looks like you’re using Microsoft Internet Explorer as your web browser. This is now considered ‘end-of-life’, and Microsoft is withdrawing support for it because it uses outdated technology. This means that it will no longer receive important security updates and previous bugs will not be fixed.

This means that the risk and cost are placed on service providers to develop twice for modern browsers and again for Internet Explorer. As free, modern alternatives are available for most platforms it is difficult to justify spending public money on further development.

Please see the Withdrawal of support for Internet Explorer notice from NHS Digital for more information and guidance.

Sightline Vision (North West)

Offers a free telephone-based befriending service designed to reduce loneliness and isolation for anyone living with a visual impairment.

Befriending

We match befrienders and befriendees based on common values and interests for telephone calls at an agreed day and time.

Regular phone-based befriending can be arranged at a convenient time for you. Our service is staffed by a team of dedicated, friendly, trained volunteers, who have close experience of sight loss.

They can provide much needed support and friendship. Many of our service users and volunteers are benefiting from the positive impact a telephone befriending relationship can offer.

Sightline does not offer counselling, mentoring or advocacy services, nor is Sightline’s telephone befriending service a suitable alternative for these services.
