Support for Internet Explorer

It looks like you’re using Microsoft Internet Explorer as your web browser. This is now considered ‘end-of-life’, and Microsoft is withdrawing support for it because it uses outdated technology. This means that it will no longer receive important security updates and previous bugs will not be fixed.

This means that the risk and cost are placed on service providers to develop twice for modern browsers and again for Internet Explorer. As free, modern alternatives are available for most platforms it is difficult to justify spending public money on further development.

Please see the Withdrawal of support for Internet Explorer notice from NHS Digital for more information and guidance.

Writing on the Wall: The Writers Bloc

Two types of creative writing workshops for adults in Liverpool.

Unlike our one-day creative writing course, the Writer’s Bloc sessions are open to our wider community of participants – regardless of your employment status. You will still need to register for the Writer’s Bloc sessions, so if you have not already done so, please apply on the website.

The Writer’s Bloc – Professional Writer Sessions

Once a month our professional writers will come along to deliver a session in their area of writing expertise. We have poets, novelists, screenwriters, content writers and more.

See the website for more information.

The professional writer sessions happen every other fortnight (once a month) and the schedule is as follows:

  • Friday 29th November 2024: Helen Jeffery – Writing Around Personal Experience
  • Friday 31st January 2025: (TBC) Amina Atiq – Creative Voice
  • Friday 28th February 2025: Paddy Clarke – Copy and Content Writing

The Writer’s Bloc – Time to Write Sessions

Every other fortnight on the Writer’s Bloc we offer a ‘Time to Write’ session. You can come into Toxteth Library as part of the local writing community and spend some time practicing your writing work. This might be anything you are currently interested in or working toward: flash fiction, poetry, a novel – anything goes. The aim is to motivate you to commit to a specific time to concentrate on your writing practice, after which the group will reconvene in the children’s library area and you can share your work with the group (if you wish).

See the website for more information.

Writer’s Bloc ‘Time to Write’ sessions are scheduled on the following dates.

  • Friday 15th November 2024
  • Friday 13th December 2024
  • Friday 14th February 2025
