Support for Internet Explorer

It looks like you’re using Microsoft Internet Explorer as your web browser. This is now considered ‘end-of-life’, and Microsoft is withdrawing support for it because it uses outdated technology. This means that it will no longer receive important security updates and previous bugs will not be fixed.

This means that the risk and cost are placed on service providers to develop twice for modern browsers and again for Internet Explorer. As free, modern alternatives are available for most platforms it is difficult to justify spending public money on further development.

Please see the Withdrawal of support for Internet Explorer notice from NHS Digital for more information and guidance.

Litter Picking

Litter. It’s one of those things we wish wasn’t a problem, but on the flip side, the innovative ways the people of Liverpool have come up with to tackle the problem make us proud to be part of such a strong and caring community.

There are so many ways to litter pick right now, whether it’s alone, as part of a group, to music or even floating on water it’s actually a fun way to be useful in your local community and improve your surroundings.

Is Litter Picking for me?

As long as you are able to walk short distances, use a litter picker and carry a bag (make sure you don’t fill it so it’s too heavy to carry back!) litter picking is for everyone.

It’s one of the few activities where you can benefit from both mindful time alone and social time as part of a group. Most group picks tend to start and finish together, but you can wander off looking for litter if you prefer more peace and quiet.

It’s for all ages and many people have started to take part in litter picks as a family activity.

What are the benefits of Litter Picking?

  • Have a mindful walk whilst making a difference
  • Help the environment
  • Sense of achievement
  • Increase your daily steps and physical activity
  • Improve your local surroundings
  • Make new friends
  • Learn a new skill (if you take part in paddle board litter picking for example)
  • Set a good example for those around you

There are group litter picks happening all across Liverpool from park clean ups to plastic paddles at the Albert Dock, find out how to get involved below.
