Tai Chi is a great way for you to #BeActive and #BeCalm whatever your level of fitness
Exercise of any form is extremely good for a healthy body and healthy mind, but if you find traditional cardio like running and circuits too fast paced or want to take some time to slow down and focus your mind, Tai Chi might be just the thing for you.
Is Tai Chi for me?
Tai Chi is a martial art that was originally developed in China in the 13th century.
As the majority of sessions involve slow, controlled movements, Tai chi is often referred to as ‘meditation in motion’ and many people use it as a way to combine looking after their physical and mental health.
There are lots of Tai Chi sessions in Liverpool and some are outdoor, meaning you can enjoy the sounds of nature and fresh air while you practise your mindful movements. There are classes for all abilities and if you’re an absolute beginner, don’t worry if you don’t know the movements as the instructors are there to help you get up to speed.
What are the benefits of Tai Chi?
- Reduce your stress levels
- Improve your posture and balance
- Learn new relaxation techniques that will help you to destress
- Improve general mobility and fitness levels
- Learn new skills by copying and memorising poses
- Reduce pain by strengthening muscles
- Improve the connection between body and mind
Tai Chi offers a relaxing way to keep fit and can be a great escape from a fast-paced life. With Tai Chi growing in popularity all the time and different styles from chair based right up to working with swords, there is bound to be a class near you to try.
